Kaitlyn won a trip to Washington DC in June!

Kaitlyn wrote an essay on the holocaust and her essay, actually it was a poem, won first place in the WHOLE ENTIRE STATE of GA! So....she won a trip to visit the holocaust memorial in Washington DC in June. It was life changing. You really could not take pictures inside the memorial, but the impressions that were made will change the way we view our lives forever.
Our tour guides father was a survivor, and actually Kaitlyn got to meet several survivors in an earlier trip to the state capital.

This is Kaitlyn on the steps of the Capital. She is the one in the pink shirt. I did not have security clearance.....don't ask me why, I'm innocent I tell ya, innocent!......Plus there was a big scary guy with a gun guarding the area....So....this was a close as this proud Mom was allowed to get...apparently they don't just let anyone on the capital steps!!

While we were there we visited with my brother Corey, his wife Anna Paula and my nieces Camilla and Emily. It was really good to see them. Camilla is pictured with Kaitlyn and Emily is cutie pictured by herself!

I tell ya, they could be models!

Well, that was our Washington DC adventure! The capital is a beautiful place and it really gives me a sense of pride to be surrounded by so much American history. I am so very blessed. But more than winning a trip I really enjoyed seeing my brother and his family. I don't see them enough and I enjoyed every second.

Our summer adventure is not over yet! One of these days my posts will catch up with me!
