From Washington to Maine!

I was born in Presque Isle Maine. Maine is an absoutely beautiful state, since I was a little girl I have been going back to Maine for vacations. When Kaitlyn was born her first summer was spent in Maine, every year since she has gone to Maine for a couple of weeks in the summer. My mom, Kait and I traveled to the eastern most point in the USA, last year and stayed at an old victorian house that was built in the 1800's. We loved it so much we went back this summer.

This is a picture taken from inside the house, there are three stained glass windows in the house, wooden floors, tin ceilings, creeking stairs, but modern appliances! (not that I know how to actually use any of them!!!!!!)

Another fun thing about this location is that it is right on the beach. And guess what you can find on the beach.......sea glass! (now don't ask Todd about this because contrary to HIS belief it is not just old trash!) You can walk the beach after high tide and pick up sea glass, these are bits and pieces of glass that have been turned and tumbled by the ocean and deposited onto the beach. Much of the glass is from 30 to 40 years old, but if you are really lucky you can find some that is over 100 years old. You can also find bits of old pottery! It's like a daily treasure hunt!

These are pictures of the glass and pottery that the owner of the house has found. The purple and red piece that you see are very rare. Older glass starts out white, over time the minerals that were put into the glass when it was made tint the glass with exposure to sun. Here are some pictures of the beach glass on the beach......

I had a lot of fun just walking the beach. I love to be outside, the temp. was cool at night and the days only got up to about 80 degrees. You could hear the fog horns, listen to the surf, watch the birds, and talk to God. Maine is one of the most beautiful states in the country, if you ever get a chance to visit..take it! More later.....

I loved my time in Maine at the cottage you guys let us borrow so graciously! I felt like I was at the end of the world. I took Matthew there when we visited Boston last. He loved it too. We should plan a big vacation get away up there...that would be perfectly relaxing! love you both, ~Sunny
